The Winds of ChangeApril 28, 2017
Ever since my dear father passed away last month, I have had numerous nudges from Spirit to re-evaluate my life. I've been pondering how best to achieve my deepest desire in inspiring others, which has always been at the core and the foundation of fulfilling my passion and purpose. I can feel the winds of change upon my back. I began to have a change of heart about what I want to do next, how I wish to contribute to the world, while I was caring for my dad in the last few weeks that he was alive. I firmly believe he was helping me to complete a cycle of life during those last precious days we had together.
Somehow when you're thrown into an intense and often unexpected situation, you are almost forced through circumstances to witness life from a different perspective. You are at the very least, given the opportunity to evaluate things from a viewpoint that you would not have had the chance to observe otherwise. And it's often a slice of life which is quite foreign to you if those circumstances had not arisen. It felt like the Divine was asking me to stop and give some significant thought to what was going on and careful consideration to how it affected me, which it did - deeply and on many levels.
What it did was stir things up vigorously within my soul. It made me realize in a very personalized way, the often unrealized value and fragility of life. It also demonstrated to me that we can rise to the occasion when called upon and that we are truly stronger than we think we are, which is what I wrote about in last month's JOYful Musings.
When faced with making life altering decisions or even the more inconsequential choices that come about every day, I have learned to follow my intuition - faithfully. Through years of paying attention to the outcomes of when I do and do not heed the wisdom of my soul (my intuition), I've developed a deep trust and confidence in surrendering to what feels right for me. While well-meaning suggestions and recommendations from others may be shared with the best of intentions, there is no better judge or advocate as to which choice is in your highest and best interest, than you!
I discovered some time ago, an effective and easy tool to use when confronted with making a decision of any kind. If the answer to the question before you feels like a "Hell, Yes!", then indeed it's a go! And if you don't feel it with every fiber in your body, then it's a "Hell, No!" Plain and simple is the name of this game.
When something feels good and true for you, the choice is clear to move in that direction. If it's something that you think you must or should do, but don't feel that good or sure about it, perhaps you need to wait. Consider that it may not be the right time to take action. However, when you are honestly plugged into the true wisdom of your soul, nothing can stop you. So stay vigilant and open for that definitive knowing that speaks to you with an unequivocal "Yes". And when you don't feel sure or comfortable with a particular decision, then it's always a "No".
Another tool you may wish to consider is to ask yourself in regard to any possible choice that arises, "How would this decision help or support me?" Play out the outcome of your choice and how it could affect you down the road. Would it result in a constructive and beneficial conclusion?
Remember that a true "Yes" which comes from the soul and is our highest wisdom, is always a calm and often quiet "Yes". But it is also a solid, definitive and certain "Yes". We can sometimes confuse the desires of the ego when we think we just have to have "this" right now or we'll perish. The ego will often come from a state of panic and a sense of I've got to hurry up and do this or else. It can feel like a race against time and that if you don't follow through you are going to miss out. Those are red flags that the ego is pleading for you to make a choice that is not a true or an honest "Yes" that is in your greatest and best interest.
You can begin to develop your intuition and learn to trust it more authentically by allowing your body to guide you as you stop and really observe how a possible choice feels to you. Let go of any judgments or notions you may have about what you think you already know regarding a person or situation before you. Just make an intention to honestly tune in to how you're feeling in the moment. If you're not sure it's a "Yes" or you don't have a good feeling about it, you don't need to spend days or weeks mulling it over. At that point, it's always a "No". That feeling in your gut is your inner GPS working it's magic on your behalf and you can trust it. That is how you begin to become more definitive and certain in your knowing. And the universe in turn will begin to bring in more definitive and certain answers for you more swiftly, whether it's a yes or a no, you'll know!
What I can tell you right now is that I've decided to spend some extensive time, giving significant thought as to what came up for me during the last few weeks I was privileged to spend with my father. I wish to give careful consideration to what it all means. With JOYful anticipation, I am quite exhilarated to see where the winds of change may take me as I begin a new chapter in my life. I'm ready for some new and exciting adventures ahead...stay tuned!
