Throw Your Hat in the Ring!August 30, 2016
I was given an enthusiastic message a few days ago at the end of my morning meditation, "Time to throw your hat in the ring!" The official definition according to Google search is to make or take up a challenge, or demonstrate one's willingness to compete or to join a cause. That is precisely what I decided to do, to take up a challenge. It was actually a great message for me in light of the fact that I had been contemplating the best route to take in achieving a new goal. I was intent on figuring out a way to encourage myself to be readily and unwaveringly accountable while resolutely sticking with 'the plan'.
So one day last week I found myself passionately proclaiming in my newly purchased journal that I was ready to take on this latest self-challenge with excitement, eagerness and confident anticipation, that whatever would result from this pledge was exactly what I needed to know or do to make it happen. I ultimately decided to make it a year long project in which I will jot down daily all pertinent and inspiring notes, all relevant messages that are revealed to me on this journey. I want to give myself plenty of time to hopefully realize and observe a turn around of grand proportions - and at the very least some evidence of some measure of modification after an entire year. Often we are not able to see much of a transformation when we wish to make major improvements or changes if we don't give ourselves a resonable amount of time to evaluate fairly the results of a particular experience.
I envision this to be a voyage of becoming more consious, more aware of what I can or am meant to do on this chosen road to expansion which is now my everyday goal in this undertaking. My daily notations will act as reminders when needed as I move forward and will also generate a collection of information and insights which I'd like to share with others when I am encouraged and guided by spirit to do so, in hopes that they prove to be beneficial or inspiring in some way.
Even though I have taken on many similar endeavors over the years, this one was given to me with great clarity in meditation and a slight sense of urgency. But in a subtle and lighthearted way so as not to be considered an imposing directive. It seemed to be more of a supportive and uplifting recommendation coming in straight from the top, from GUS (my little acronym for God, the Universe, Source). And of course, whenever I get any sort of prompting in regard to taking action, I pay close attention to how I it makes me feel: lighter, brighter, excited or delighted = incoming info from the highest vibration of love. Anything that brings me down, diminishes, depletes or defeats me = not a match to my highest good. A great little tool for checking in if you're on the fence about what to do in any situation. I use it all the time and it has always proven to be spot on for me.
This month I am inspired to share with you a couple of "aha" moments which came in through a dream that I had recently. In this dream I was at the grocery store shopping for someone else and filling up my cart to the top with all the things that I thought they needed. It turned out to be a very large load indeed. I pushed the heavy cart out to my car and turned to open the trunk to unload the many bags. Imagine my great surprise when I looked back at the cart to find it completely empty. I found myself exclaiming, "It looks like I have nothing left to give!" Aha #1.
As I was writing down the details of this dream in my journal, I found myself jotting down just after I'd written the sentence, "It looks like I have nothing left to give", the following words: "I need to fill up my own cart!!" Aha moment #2. As I was contemplating the obvious meaning of my dream upon awakening, I did not take it past the message at the time that I had nothing left in me to give to another. I probably just needed to sit with that simple but prevailing reminder for a bit. I knew without a doubt that I was totally tapped out, but it took me quite a while before I allowed myself to fully come to the realization that it was okay to step back and take care of me first. The second "aha" message that I needed to fill up my own cart was undeniably much more meaningful, plainly and powerfully clear as I scrawled it in my journal sometime later.
The universe is so very proficient and clever when it comes to how and when to offer up its pearls of wisdom for us to ponder. I am continually amazed and grateful that GUS is always bringing such profound and deep insights my way. It is always a wonderful confirmation that life is happening for us, not to us and the universe is constantly conspiring on our behalf!
So now that I've tossed my chapeau into the ring, it's official in my mind. I'm in it for the longhaul, heart and soul. I'm dedicated to doing what it will take to get the job done, to making it through the next year, enjoying the journey of writing in my journal on a daily basis as I listen and take in all that I am heavenly guided to do and consider. I am devoted and stauch in my commitment and actually excited about what is to come, which includes all the unknowns, as I sculpt and create the next best version of me in this most delightful and ever changing adventure called LIFE. Are you ready to make a deep and lasting commitment to something, anything that just may turn your life around for the better? Why not consider the endless possibilities, the infinite opportunities that you can create if you decide to vow with gusto that it's time to throw your hat in the ring ... woo-hoo!
