Embrace the Unexpected!February 26, 2016
A few weeks ago I reached into my closet to grab something to wear and found myself with a t-shirt in my hand that I'd forgotten was even there. I think I'd worn it once some time ago just after I purchased it, but then it disappeared from view among the other t-shirts until that moment. As I gazed at the written words on the front of it, I remarked aloud, "Ha-ha Universe - very funny!" The message displayed upon my shirt read, "Embrace the unexpected".
You see, I have been submerged for some time now in the midst of challenging circumstances where many family members are being faced with one unexpected situation after another. The intensity of these family matters has increased in the past week with serious conditions emerging which needed immediate care and attention. It now feels like we are all on high alert and the family was given a wake-up call to action. What still remains to be seen is how each member will respond to the situation, which will undoubtedly impact the outcome for everyone involved. I've observed this family chapter at times from the thought provoking perspective of watching a production that we've all agreed to play a part in, while wondering if some will deviate from the script which we previously decided to perform.
Throughout this entire family experience, I have been asking for guidance and assistance as to how to deal with it all on a daily basis - sometimes several times a day! I'd promised myself months ago that I would not allow the family issues to overwhelm me to the point that I would teeter precariously on the edge of losing my balance altogether, falling deep into that dark abyss of slippery slopes that are beyond challenging to navigate when you are trying to climb back up into the light.
And of course, the universe has not let me down by bringing in messages of insight and inspiration. During my morning ritual of quiet time and contemplation I often pick angel cards, among others, to connect to what I most need to know or consider for the day. The cards that have come up when I've asked for guidance regarding my part in this current family production have been truly insightful and helpful in keeping me in a space of understanding, grace and balance. Not all of the time, mind you, but they are always just what I need to hear whether I fully grasp it or not at the time!
I am beginning to see that how we respond to particular life events is always going to be unique depending on how we move through the process of dealing with whatever's going on. Sometimes more slowly than others if we are working on any issues related to the event at hand. But I do believe that calling on heaven for help is our ace in the hole.
Just last night I had a vivid dream where I ended up feeling lost, helpless, desperate and unable to accomplish what I thought needed to be done as I screamed out for help just before waking up trembling. A literal wake-up call to go within and ask for support and wisdom as I pay closer attention to how I'm feeling.
Some of the more beneficial insights I've received which really helped to pull me up into a brighter and lighter space regarding current circumstances were about surrendering to what is going on rather than being preoccupied with what might or could happen; letting go of my expectations of how things should unfold, including how others should participate within the situation to ensure a reasonable outcome; embracing life as it presents itself while practicing the art of inclusion and allowing.
Even though these messages relate to issues I thought I'd long since dealt with, I am now aware that I've been given the opportunity to look at the most recent events with new eyes, a fresh perspective thus creating newfound understanding and hopefully a bit of wisdom to carry with me as I travel forward on this remarkable and ever unpredictable journey through life.
One thing I know for sure is that it always helps me to connect to anything or anyone which I know will inspire, uplift and motivate me into a better feeling space. I have used many different mantras, affirmations and powerful statements over the years to align myself with who I want to be and where I want to go and I have learned and appreciate from many previous experiences that I always get back on track.
It's a tool that I've practiced for years and it consistently and reliably does the job of taking me higher. And the time it takes me to get there has shortened considerably - actually quite a lot - when I think back to when I first began this practice of purposefully moving up the vibrational ladder to reaching greater heights.
I know it's all about my intention to move into a greater frequency, a peaceful space of acceptance and unconditional love which I'll reach in my own time. That alone always makes me feel good, makes me feel like I really am supported even when outside circumstances seem to be screaming otherwise as I call on heaven (my ace in the hole) and embrace the unexpected!
