If you've been led to read this article, I will venture to say that you are quite possibly a Spiritual Explorer in your own unique and distinctive way. You are most likely open minded and willing to consider other options as you widen your perspective by exploring new viewpoints or ideas presented to you. And when you summon the quality of courage through your heart as you follow your truth, you really can face what is before you in a confident and fearless manner.
You may not always identify with all of the qualities I've mentioned above and listed below, but you definitely have the energy within you to call it forth into your life if you feel the urge. Additional attributes of the Spiritual Explorer:
- The courage to question their own beliefs
- Able to see beyond the illusion in the quest for Truth
- Listens to the voice within, higher guidance
- Interested in creating positive change, understanding it begins with self
- The discipline to follow their heart even when outside sources disagree
- The realization we are all Spiritual Beings first
- Honors the light equally in everyone and accepts/loves all life unconditionally
Know that you if you resonate with the ways of the Spiritual Warrior, you are here to show others, by the light of your example, that change for the better is indeed possible. You give hope to those who are not quite ready to open up and expand their horizons or try something new. By choosing to follow your own unique path, you will undoubtedly be in the position to reach those who will benefit most by observing as you lead the way. And leading the way does not mean that you will not encounter obstacles, difficulties or challenges on your journey. It does mean that you will look for the lesson or the blessing in each experience as you pick yourself up and continue on in gratitude.
So as I continue on my own path of awakening, tuning in to what feels like the next step in my expansion of consciousness, I have been guided to the notion of exploring in more depth the practice of meditation and stillness. For many, many years I've been very consistent with beginning my day in gratitude. I always express my intention of moving through the day ahead while maintaining a positive attitude. I affirm that I will be able to handle whatever comes my way with kindness and grace. I ask for assistance from Spirit, my guides and angels to align me with choosing love in all I think, say and do. And I've practiced meditation on and off for some 30 years or so.
Because I have not always followed through with a regular schedule of daily meditation, I was immediately drawn and curiously interested in the information I came across recently that expounded the many benefits of an unwavering practice. There are numerous advantages for us when we consistently take the time to sit in stillness, from lowering our stress levels, training our brains to connect to better, healthier choices with any decision (emotional processing), to making us more compassionate in our interactions.
To be still and know is the goal of meditation. It's all about being more awake, alive and connected. As you sit and your thoughts begin to slow down, the noise of everyday life begins to settle and then disappear. It is then that you are able to see much more clearly the inherent beauty that surrounds you in everyone and everything. This insightful and discerning state of being promotes a lasting, stable and JOYful relationship with the world.
If you're awake, present and thoughtful, you'll be really good at whatever you're doing. And it's that kind of focus and attention that results in meaningful work and a deep contentment with your life. It's the haziness of not being completely tuned in and connected that smothers the clarity and the understanding that comes from stillness. Clear thinking is what allows us to handle life well, with ease and ahead of the game. It comes from being present, in the moment, as you get twice as much done in half the time.
We cannot produce muscles with just one round of strength training, so it makes sense to sit in stillness with consistency. It's like pushups for the brain. It takes commitment and practice plus plenty of patience to reap the rewards which result in a calm and steady mind that can handle life's daily distractions with efficiency and precision. It leads to unencumbered and smooth sailing as we pave the way to the ultimate expression of our highest potential and best self.
Meditation is an opportunity to re-introduce us to what's been missing, to let the mind settle down, which allows us to grasp the wisdom within. Our most profound realizations and inspiration frequently come in those moments. As a result, the whispers of our soul and our heart's desire will be much more evident and unmistakable. It is our direct pipeline to God, Oneness, All That Is ... and all we need to know.
I've come to believe meditation to be one of the greatest tools for creating happiness and enhancing your life in immeasurable ways. I have become truly committed to a daily practice. Just imagine what it would be like if we all meditated? We'd surely be a happier, more productive, more loving world. So in the Ways of the Spiritual Explorer, we are here at this particular moment in time to be the spark that is part of the One Light, leading the way for others, however we feel called to do so, as we travel onward in this ever evolving and amazing journey. Shine bright!
